Hello from the PAC Chair: June 15, 2010
June is halfway done and the end of school is in sight! For some, the beginning of school is also in
sight come this September and I’d like to welcome the parents of our new
Kindergarten students, many of whom I met today at the Kindergarten
Welcome.
As the Parent Advisory Council (PAC), we would like to welcome all our new students and their families. The PAC
is a great place to be a part of Herbert Spencer. Whether it is volunteering serving coffee or
sitting in on the monthly meetings we are pleased to carry on the great
tradition of involving parents.
Our PAC Elections (misnomer as
really it was just people stepping up to
volunteer!) have happened and the results are in. As of
September our PAC Executive is:

As you can see, we still have vacancies for: Secretary (can be job shared)
and 6 more
spaces for Members-at-large (MAL).
Some concerns that
have been brought up recently:

two
new portables to be placed on Herbert Spencer playground this September.
-
a new
rezoning application that has been made requesting 152 residential units
in
Herbert Spencer’s Catchment.
By being a part of
the PAC you are enabled to keep in touch with what
is happening in your school and community and also become a voice as the
PAC is
often asked and listened to regarding input into projects. Come join us
September 9th at 7:30pm
in
the library if you are interested.
On a lighter note,
Fun Day is soon upon us on June 18th so remember to
do your sun dance!
